THE SCHEDULE & IMPORTANT DEADLINES:

WEDNESDAY, 11/4: Despite the joy or despair that this morning may bring from the night before, all head coaches must have their hired judges NAMES AND EMAIL ADDRESSES entered in Speechwire. This feature is open now for inputting. More information on judges below.

THURSDAY, 11/5: At 4:00pm contestants in EXTEMP AND IMPROMPTU will receive (via your email) their question/prompt. As of now, there will only be one "draw" as then your students will have until 9:00pm (or earlier) to record their speech and send it to you to upload to Speechwire. RADIO speakers on this day should prepare a script with news no older than 24 hours, record their reading and again, send it to you for uploading. WE WILL NOT PROVIDE RADIO COPY.

THURSDAY, 11/5: No later than 9:00pm, ALL of your contestants' pre-recorded video links need to be sent to Speechwire (by you). These pre-recorded performances will be used for 3 prelim rounds AND the final round. Sorry, absolutely no ADDS after 9:00pm.

FRIDAY, 11/6: At 5:00pm, all judging assignments will be sent to your hired judges via the email you provided for them. Please be sure they know to look for this email! Your judges have from 5:00pm Friday until Noon on Saturday, 11/7 to judge, rank, and provide an electronic critique. Please gently remind them that rounds usually take an hour or more to judge, and to allow time to meet the Noon deadline. Starting on Friday night is advisable.

SATURDAY, 11/7:  Good morning! Everyone was able to sleep in, yes, but we are not done! Prelim judging must be completed by NOON, BUT their job is not done because we will have a FINAL ROUND in all events (using the same pre-recorded videos). PLEASE instruct your hired judges that they will need to be available to judge FINAL ROUNDS that will begin around 1:30pm. If they are selected, they will receive another email with the link to judge and again go through the same process. At around, say, 2:30pm, we plan to have a live-streamed awards ceremony. Your students will be able to watch this. That is all I know about that.

THE JUDGING
Each team will need to furnish the following number of judges based on individual entries:
10 – 12 Entries:        2 judges
13 – 19 Entries:        3 judges
20 – 24 Entries:        4 judges
25 – 30 Entries:        5 judges
30+ entries         6 judges

*IMPORTANT: Please make sure that your hired judges are at least two years out of high school (a college sophomore). Individuals who are one year out of high school will not be allowed to judge.
*Each team will be responsible for the number of judges based on their original entry number. Teams that are missing judges will be charged $50.00 per judge. This fee will be added to your entry fee. Contestant drops before the Thursday video deadline will not decrease your number of required judging assignments.

THE AWARDS
Team scoring: Preliminary round scoring will determine team placement. The top two scoring contestants in each event will count toward your total team point tabulation, with the exception of...
DUETS: Though you may enter as many duets as you would like, for the sake of equity and fairness, DUET RANKS/POINTS will not factor into overall team score. Duet teams will of course be eligible to advance to final round and receive recognition.

Awards: Individual ribbons will be awarded to all finalists and mailed to their school to the attention of the head coach. In lieu of team trophies, Eisenhower High School will make a charitable donation to a 501c3 organization of your team’s choice. Donations will be made on behalf of the top 5 finishing schools. YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL WITH FORM TO COMPLETE THE NAME/ADDRESS OF YOUR PREFERRED CHARITY SOON.

THE HARD DEADLINES - A RECAP...
By Wednesday, November 4: All hired judges' names and email addresses submitted to Speechwire.
By Thursday, November 5:  9:00pm - All contestant video links for all events must be uploaded to SpeechWire.
By Saturday, November 7:  NOON, all judges have completed their prelim assignments, and should remain on standby to receive final round judging assignments by 1:30-1:45pm.
