**The following is an update to the Willowbrook Winter Tournament Schedule and Structure. Please contact me with questions, and please stay well!!

 

The Willowbrook High School Individual Events Speech Team cordially invites you to participate in our seventeenth annual Willowbrook Invitational on Saturday, December 12, 2020.  As a coaching staff and team, we are extremely pleased to offer another tournament, even in this virtual world. Once again, this will be a warm, inviting tournament for all participants. We will do our best to maintain that position.

 

Entries, Fees, and Judges: 

Teams may enter up to four speakers per event.  Triple entries will be accepted this year, since we are virtual. Remember, at this point in the season, all speakers will be competing at the same level; in other words, we will not delineate between Novice and Varsity speakers.  The entry fee is $150.00 for 32 or fewer entries.  We will need 1 judge per 5 entries.  Therefore, if you have a full team (32 entries), then we will need a maximum of 6 judges.  If you have more than 32 entries, then please have the check made for $200.00, and bring 7 judges. Please make checks payable to Willowbrook High School, c/o Brett Blair, IE Speech Team.  Once checks are received, refunds will not be made.  Receipt of your information will be confirmed via e-mail/SpeechWire, so please make sure you have your preferred e-mail address in SpeechWire.

 

Schedule: 

The prep material will be released on Tuesday, and ALL recordings must be submitted by 9 pm on Thursday, December 10th. We will run the tournament and have all prelims entered by 10:30 am on Saturday. We will have a synchronous final by 11:30am (or earlier). Please make sure that your judges remain available on Saturday morning/early afternoon. We will be using NSDA Campus. 

 

Rules:

Radio, Extemp, and Impromptu will prep once for prelims and finals. Material will go out on Wednesday afternoon. Time will count toward Radio. For Impromptu, the prep time should NOT be included in the recording. Only record the speech. 

 

 

Awards:

Medals will be given to 1st through 6th place speakers and ribbons to finalists.  Team awards will be based on preliminary rounds from first to sixth place.  The team awards will be based on the top two competitors in each event from each team in preliminary rounds.  I may host the awards ceremony...with my assistant coaches...in the auditorium and record it. Not sure yet, but your speakers will receive their awards. 

 

Due Dates:

 

Again, Thursday, December 10th will be the entry recordings.
