Moorhead/Woodbury Tournament
Extemporaneous Info EXTEMPORANEOUS INFORMATIVE - Information Welcome to the inaugural extemporaneous informative competition! Because we’re competing virtually, we are doing this experimental event in a slightly less than extemporaneous way for preliminary rounds, and then going entirely extemporaneous for the final. Below is more information! The preliminary round theme for the 2021 tournament is: Something green inside your house or performance space. Your topic can be anything green. For example, if the round theme was “something red,” you might do an informative on strawberries, or red peppers, or the hundreds of Marshall Paw Patrol figurines in your basement (can you tell we have two little kids?). While there is no required structure for the speech, students should consider using regular informative structure to help with clarity. However, creativity is certainly allowed and encouraged, just as much as having fun is! The final round theme for the 2021 tournament will be announced prior to finals, in order to keep the final round entirely extemporaneous. Rules:
Preliminary Round Protocol: Remember that there is no prep time limit for the preliminary round video, since you’re submitting it ahead of time. You will submit one video, and the same video will be used for 3 different preliminary rounds. Final Round Protocol: Finalists will be announced on Saturday. Students who qualify for the final round must appear in the designated digital room at the start of prep time for the final. If you are also entered in another event, allowances will obviously be made for that. The final round will be streamed live while students are waiting for awards to start.
