This is the registration site for:

  1. Indicating your agreement to terms and conditions for participation in WISDAA's High School Speech contest series;
  2. Claiming your school's time slot for the State Speech Festival at UW-Madison (so you can plan travel April 21-22);
  3. Initial registration of entries and adjudicators for your WISDAA subdistrict festival; and
  4. Indicating accessibility requests for various contestant and/or adjudicator needs, including accommodations/modifications, dietary restrictions, religious observances, etc..

At/after 5pm on Thursday, January 23, 2024, click the Registration icon above. The flowchart below shows how participation works throughout the season in terms of both in-person festivals and the statewide virtual option run by the state office. Be sure to review:

Season Flow chart

This is the Initial Registration (SpeechWire) part of the process for the season as reflected in the flowchart above.

Please enter students/categories as soon as possible, so we have accurate information to share with subdistrict hosts/managers. Registration is generally cut off about 2 weeks prior to each subdistrict festival, so the host has enough time to prepare.

State Festival: Youth Protection
Per new rules implemented by the UW System at UW-Madison, the State Speech Festival requires one responsible adult per every 10 minor students (under age 18), with a minimum of two (2) responsible adults. The school must vet and background check each responsible adult – who must have had mandatory reporting training -- and they must be present on campus any time a school has students on campus.

SpeechWire uses its own email/password login system, different from the WISDAA website. If you have used SpeechWire before, you may log in with your account (click Your account above).  If you don't remember, click Forgot password to reset your account. Otherwise, click Create account and SpeechWire will give you a list of schools already in the system. If your school is already listed, but you did not create an account, it might be because someone else is listed; complete the Speech Coach Change Form at this link to request to be added to your school's record -- please do NOT create a new entry for a school that already exists in the system. Once we process your request, the site will email you a password, which you will use to login. If it does not, please email accounts@speechwire.com. Return to speechwire.com/wisdaahsspeech to begin registration.

Please contact us with any questions. Given expected high call volume, we recommend email for a quicker response.
