Regulations & Eligibility

• By registering your student(s), you certify:

  • Their school is not already participating. For students whose schools are already participating in this virtual festival, only the coach may register their student. We do not want parents "going behind a coach's back;" and

  • Your student(s) are currently enrolled in a Wisconsin school or homeschooled, in grades 9-12; and

  • Your student(s) is/are eligible to participate in interscholastic contests through their school's rules regulating such eligibility (grades, attendance, conduct, etc.). 

• Students who are found to not be in compliance with the above will be reported to school administration and subject to future sanctions of participation in WHSFA contests.

Getting Started with SpeechWire

• Create an account on SpeechWire:

  1. Select your location as Wisconsin. Only students from Wisconsin may participate.

  2. Skip the "Teams already in SpeechWire in Wisconsin" step, and go down to "New team/independent name" and register as "School Name -- Last Name." This allows us to track what schools students are affiliated with. We will only accept entries as affiliated with a particular school. 

  3. For "Account ype," select "Independent competitor," and leave "Account level" as "High School."

  4. Type your name and email address as "Required information." This must be a parent/guardian's contact, and NOT a student, unless the student is 18 or older.

  5. Please complete the optional information so we may contact you as necessary with questions or concerns. If you have filled everything out properly, SpeechWire will create your account and send your account password to the email address that you provided.
