Tournament Information

Welcome to the 31^st annual DOLORES KORFHAGE HILKE MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL. We are delighted to have you with us and intend to do everything we can to make this tournament a positive experience for you. If you need help, come to the Tab Room, A120C, where we will be happy to help you.

The IDIOSYNCRACIES of our building: Our school is divided into Building A and Building B. The first and 2nd floors are connected. However, if you are scheduled to speak in a 3^rdFloor room, be aware that the two buildings ARE NOT CONNECTED. In other words, you must be in Building A to access any room beginning with A3xx and you must be in Building B to access any room beginning with B3xx.

A great feature, though, is that there are two gender-neutral bathrooms NEAR the entry off the parking lot. They used to be the Staff Bathrooms, and have now been converted and are accessible to all.

ALL SPEAKERS: Please wait to enter your room until the judge has arrived!

ROOM ASSIGNMENTS: If you must move classroom furnishings, PLEASE REPLACE THEM AT THE END OF YOUR ROUND. WE DON’T WANT ANY CRANKY TEACHERS ON MONDAY MORNING! Of course, we are confident that you will be respectful of all classroom property. We also ask that you wait for the judge to arrive BEFORE entering the classroom.

DRAW AREAS: Draw students will set up in the Media Center and the study room connected to it, Rm A120B. You MUST enter/leave A120B THROUGH the Media Center. Draws will occur in the Media Center. Please, no food or drink in the library!

VERY IMPORTANT: If you are double-entered, REGARDLESS of speaking order, you MUST do your draw event FIRST. Only after you have presented in your draw event, should you go to your other round.

DISCUSSANTS: Please note that DISCUSSION will begin 15 minutes after the other events, so any double-entered discussant MUST go to their OTHER event, first! All discussion rounds will be held in rooms in various parts of the building.

IMPROMPTU: Since you also are entered in another event, we need to be flexible to make this work. Basically, if you are also in DISCUSSION, you need to go to IMPROMPTU, first, then quickly head to your Discussion round!

Otherwise, if you are an early speaker in your other event, do that first before going to Impromptu. If you speak later in your round, go to Impromptu first. The impromptu judge should take people, one-at-a-time as they arrive, and should not leave until ALL the assigned speakers have arrived! If you believe your judge has left BEFORE you had an opportunity to speak, please go the registration/ballot drop desk RIGHT AWAY, A120C, and we will solve the problem!

The doors to the auditorium will be opened shortly before Awards. Only those receiving awards may be on stage when called up. Please respect our school and our Theater Department. We are preparing for a production, and the set will be visible, but do not be tempted to check it out.

**NOTE: our stage is wheel-chair accessible from the hallway.
