PARLI  TOPIC ANNOUNCE DOC (also here)

Good evening folks!

Great job to everyone in LD for an excellent, on time day 1 of the tournament! Tomorrow morning at 8 AM we start parliamentary debate topic announce in Anderson Regents. Here are key reminders and updates:

1. Please submit strikes this evening. Each open team gets 2 and we will close tomorrow morning at start of registration. 

2. There will be coffee and bagels in the foyer of Chambers (John T. Chambers Engineering Technology Center on the map). We will also have snacks and other stuff for folks during the days in that area. 

3. Please come and check in at Anderson Presidents for registration. 

4. We will be using the topic document linked on the google doc and also on the front page of Speechwire for topic announce and tournament updates for Parli specifically

5. We would appreciate sending someone to Topic Announce for Round 1 just to make sure people are present. 

REMINDER: Round 1 & 2 are the same topic so students will have an extended time to prep for both sides of the topic. 

UPDATE: Normally, we mirror topics for Round 1&2, Round 3&4, and our round 5 preliminary round is a random topic not mirrored to any other prelim. This year we are piloting mirroring Rounds 1 & 2, making round 3 a random topic, then mirroring round 4&5. We think the advantage here is more stability in the topic for break rounds and also any bye on the mirrored topics likely goes to a team no longer in contention. We will still ensure side integrity on the mirrored topics of 4&5 and still follow procedures for power matching.
