CHSAA State Tournament
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Colorado. View manager contact information Welcome to the registration site for the CHSAA Colorado Speech and Debate State Championship Tournament! Many thanks to Rhonda Blanford-Green, Bud Ozzello, Audra Cathy, and the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) for their continued support of speech and debate activities in the state of Colorado! Tournament Information Tournament Date: March 16-17, 2018 Location: Rocky Mountain High School, 1300 W Swallow Rd, Fort Collins, CO 80526 Qualification: Students qualify to compete at the Colorado State Tournament based on their performance at the regional qualifying tournaments. Rules: Please be sure to review all rules and information regarding the tournament. Rules and information can be found on the CHSAA website at http://www2.chsaa.org/activities/speech/pdf/17_18_CO_Speech_Handbook_Updated.pdf Schedule: The tentative schedule HAS CHANGED THIS YEAR and has been posted on the "files for download" on this website at https://www.speechwire.com/files/7365-2018%20Tentative%20State%20Speech%20and%20Debate%20Schedule.pdf Registration: Registration must be completed at www.speechwire.com by March 5, 2018. Late, missing, or incomplete registrations will result in a $25 late fee. Registration will be live as soon as Regional directors to mark qualifying entries in Speechwire. (For directors to do this, inside the Regional sites, go to Posting center, then Post results and qualify competitors. Click Build tournament report. This should pop up the advancing entries according to the quotas and allow Speechwire to import qualifers to the State Speechwire site.) Registration Procedures:
Extemp Topic Areas: The order of topic areas for the tournament will be drawn at registration on Friday morning and announced for all competitors.
International Extemporaneous Topic Areas Debate Resolutions: CX Debate 2017-2018 Topic Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase its funding and/or regulation of elementary and/or secondary education in theUnited States. Lincoln Douglas Debate March-April 2018 Topic Resolved: The United States ought to provide a universal basic income. Public Forum Debate March 2018 Topic Resolved: On balance, the current Authorization for Use of Military Force gives too much power to the president.
