The MSQI Championship

Highbridge Green School 

On behalf of the New York City Urban Debate League, the Middle School Quality Initiative of the NYC Department of Education and the Highbridge Green School, you are cordially invited to the 2016 MSQI Championships for Public Forum on June 11, 2016 for a day of exciting, fun and intense debate excitement.

We will offer one debate format: Public Forum, featuring 4 rounds of debate of public forum debate.

Judges’ training will be available for individuals interested in judging public forum

TOPICS

 

Resolution for the MSQI tournament will be based on the rap topic - Resolved: Rap music has a negative impact on youth.

 

AWARDS

Speaker points will be on the scale of 30 points.

We will provide awards for top speakers, top teams and sweepstakes for top schools. Top two teams based on winning records will participate in the public championship debate.

Saturday – June 11th, 2016

8:00am - 9:30am - Registration and Breakfast

9:00 - Registration closes 

9:30am – Opening Ceremonies

10:00am – Round 1

11:00am – Round 2

12:00pm – Lunch

12:50 – Pairings for Round 3 are released 

1:00pm – Round 3

2:00pm – Teacher Debate

2:30pm – Championship Debates

3:15pm – Guest Speaker / Awards Ceremony
