Dear Colleagues,

The Forensics team of Crete High School is pleased to invite you to the 21st Annual Crete Cardinal Classic Invitational, which will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016. The tournament will be held at the NEW Crete High School. Please read over the invitation and call or e-mail if you have any questions.  We’ll see you February 6th!

Zach Mapes Forensics Director, CHS

Rachel Haider Assistant Director, CHS

LOCATION:  We are located approximately 25 miles southwest of Lincoln on Highways 103 and 33 in Crete.  Crete High School is located at 1750 Iris, Crete, NE 68333 - across the street from the old high school.

REGISTRATION:  Registration will be on the high school commons stage beginning at 7:45 a.m.

PARKING:  Please park in the Main Parking Lot located on the West side of the building.

EVENTS:  The nine NSAA events (Extemporaneous, Oral Interpretation of Drama, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Oral Interpretation of Poetry, Persuasive, Entertainment, Duet Acting, Informative) and Humorous Impromptu will be offered.

ENTRIES:  Students may double enter in each flight.  Each school may have up to 6 entries per individual event and 4 per team event (Duet and OID).  (Students may be wait-listed and will be entered based on availability.)

ENTRIES ARE DUE BY 5:00 p.m. ON TUESDAY, February 2nd.

Please enter online through www.speechwire.com. Feel free to call or text me on my cell @ 402-217-0648  if you have any questions.

DROPS:  Drops will be accepted through Thursday, February 4th.  DROPS AFTER THE ENTRY DEADLINE ON TUESDAY WILL NOT CHANGE JUDGING REQUIREMENTS OR ENTRY FEES!

FEES:  Entry fees will be $7.50 per entry in each event.  Group events count as one entry.  Fees are due at registration unless prior arrangements have been made.  Make checks out to CRETE HIGH SCHOOL (SPEECH).

AWARDS:  The top two teams will receive Sweepstakes Trophies, plus trophies will be awarded to the top school in classes A, B, C, and D (unless that top school receives a Sweepstakes Trophy).  We’ll have both Champs and Honors finals, so trophies will be given to the top two finishers in each event and medals will round out the top twelve, except duet and OID, where medals will be given to all finalists.  Round ribbons will be awarded to the top three finishers in each section. We will also be giving an award for the highest novice in each individual event.  A NOVICE IS DEFINED AS A STUDENT WHO HAS NOT COMPETED IN FORENSICS IN INVITATIONAL COMPETITION BEFORE AUGUST 2015.  There is NO separate division for novices.  Please be sure to mark novices on Speechwire.

JUDGES:  You must furnish one judge for every 5 entries or part thereof (Example:  5 entries = 1 judge; 7 entries = 2 judges) OR pay $15.00 per slot you haven’t covered.  (Example:  7 entries.  Furnishing one judge means you owe an extra $15.00 for each uncovered slot in addition to $7.00 entry fee for those entries.)  Remember, if you want to judge you count as one judge.  All judges must be available for finals.  Please have stopwatches for all your judges.  We will try again this year to have two judges in R1FA and R2FB so students may have three critiques prior to finals; however, several years ago we did not have enough judges to cover every slot.

CONCESSIONS:  Concessions will be on sale throughout the day, including breakfast items when your team arrives.  A well-stocked lounge will be available for judges and coaches.

SCHEDULE:  Events will be run in two flights.  There will be two preliminary rounds in each event and finals.  We will adhere to the following schedule as closely as possible:
