Hunter's Point Community MS 

On behalf of the New York City Urban Debate League and Hunter's Point Community MS you are cordially invited to the NYCUDL Middle School PF / Policy Debate Tournament #1 at Hunter's Point Community MS for a day of exciting, fun and intense debate excitement.

We will offer two debate formats, Public Forum and Policy Debate, featuring three rounds of debate for both debate formats.

Judges’ training will be available for individuals interested in judging public forum and policy debate.

Registration

 

Registration will take place on speechwire.com

Each team requires one judge for every three teams competing.

 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR ALL ENTRIES IS 5PM – October 21st, 2015

 

We will offer two debate formats, Public Forum and Policy Debate, featuring three rounds of debate for both debate formats.

Points will be on the scale of 30 points, within the range of 25-30 points.

We will provide awards for top speakers, top teams and sweepstakes points for top schools for overall sweepstakes awards to be given at the end of the season.

 

Topics

 

 

National October PF Topic: Topic: Racial Justice – Resolved: The United States federal goverment out to pay reparations to African Americans.

National NSDA Topic: Surveillance Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially curtail its domestic surveillance. 

 

IMPORTANT DATES

 

To submit teams into Speechwire: Wednesday,October 21st by 5PM

Check-in / Day of tournament registration: Saturray, October 24th, by 9:00AM

 

Once registration closes (at the beginning of the tournament) – those that are late will forfeit the first round and will debate round 2 – they can observe and flow debates in round 1

 

WE MUST EMPHASIZE THIS RULE IN ORDER TO HAVE AN EFFICIENT, TIMELY AND WELL-MANAGED TOURNAMENT. PLEASE OBLIGE TO THIS REQUEST.
