Welcome to the Fremont Ross HS TournaShop!  The first and most important thing I would like to pass on is that registration will begin at 8:30am with Extemp draw beginning at 9:30am.  The tournament rounds will collectively begin at 10:00am.  This will allow further schools to leave a little later and for closer schools to sleep in a little as we get started with the new season.  In this single-day event, your varsity students will compete in DEBATE (4 rounds), IE (3 rounds and a final), and Student Congress (2 rounds).  While they compete, parents and novice students will watch and learn.  Then during lunch, novice and varsity students will discuss their categories with each other while the PARENTS AND INTERESTED ADULTS attend training sessions on "How to Judge."

Following lunch, Varsity IE will compete in a final round, and those who don't make the final round will judge NOVICE ROUNDS along with the newly trained parents!  This is a unique opportunity to have NOVICE students walk through the tournament process.  We will talk them through the typical tournament and go through two rounds of very non-stressful competition.  Multiple judges will be in each round, if the numbers permit.  Students do not need to be memorized, they will only present the first FIVE minutes of their speeches, and we rely on seasoned judges, the day's parents, and varsity students to serve as judges.

REMEMBER, we will offer JUDGES' TRAINING for your parents and "WORKSHOPS" for your contestants during lunch.  Parents are encouraged to watch the first three rounds of varsity and then attend training.  During lunch, students will sit accordng to category with interested coaches and varsity students; novices can ask questions or just get some encouragement!

SO, when you register judges, indicate STUDENT or ADULT.  THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!

Also, we are collecting children's books.  We'd love it if you could bring some gently-used books to turn in at registration!

LD and PF: We will be using the OCTOBER topics.

StuCo will use the NSDA April Docket.

Please make checks out to Fremont Ross High School Speech and Debate.

We look forward to seeing you in Fremont on October 24th! Please be sure to register by Friday October 23rd by noon to avoid drop fees.  The tournament will be held at Fremont Middle School, which is right next door to the high school
