The Orange and Black Oral Interp Festival

View manager contact information Washington High School Orange and Black Oral Interpretation Tournament Friday, October 23, 2015 Oral Interpretation Coaches: We are pleased to invite you to attend the third annual Orange and Black Tournament at Sioux Falls Washington on Friday, October 23. Based on your feedback, we will be holding three rounds of competition followed by awards. In addition to our varsity events, we will offer a novice division in all categories. In the event that novice entries so not allow separate rounds in a particular category, we will combine novice and varsity, but will still separate results for the purpose of awards. We hope to offer all competitors a positive experience. Events and entries Schools may have an unlimited number of entries in each of our seven divisions: Humorous Interp, Dramatic Interp, Duo Interp, Storytelling, Non-Original Oratory, Poetry, and Reader’s Theatre. New this year, we will allow a triple entry if the third entry is Reader’s Theatre. Rounds will be staggered to keep the tournament running smoothly. Registration I will be using Speechwire to manage the tournament entries. Please go to speechwire.com, locate The Orange and Black Oral Interp event, login, and proceed with registration. Please have your entries in by 4pm on Tuesday, October 20 via Speechwire. Any changes after that will need to be emailed to me directly at michelle.mcintyre@k12.sd.us. You may also call my cell phone with questions or last minute changes on the day of the event at 605-359-0524. South Dakota High School Activity Association rules will govern this contest. Schedule 2:30 – 3:45 – Registration in the Auditorium 3:50 – General Meeting in the Auditorium 4:00 – Round One – Reader’s Theatre 4:15 – Round One 5:15 – Round Two – Reader’s Theatre 5:30 – Round Two 7:00 – Round Three – Reader’s Theatre 7:15 – Round Three 9:00 – Awards in the auditorium Concessions will be available in our commons area for all students.
Fees Entry fees for the contest will be $7.00 per contestant per individual events, $10 per duo and Reader’s Theatre entry. Fees will be assessed based on the entries received by 4pm on Tuesday, Oct. 20. Fees must be paid on or before registration, and checks should be made out to Washington High School Oral Interp. Judges Each school must provide one judge for every 5 students or fraction thereof. Please be sure to cover your judging commitments, as I do not have a large pool of judges available for hire. The fee for any hired judges will be $65. College students are acceptable as judges. Please be sure to review relevant judging criteria with your judges so they are well-equipped to provide quality feedback that helps our competitors grow!! Please also share that food and refreshments will be provided and that we expect them to stay available through the final (third) round.
Awards Students in the top six of each event will receive awards.
