Auburn Creative and Performing Arts High School Speech Team enthusiastically invites you to their 4th Annual Top of the State Speech Tournament on January 31st, 2016.

 

The tournament will offer three rounds of preliminary competition in all fourteen IHSA events. 

 

There will also be competition in Improvised Duet Acting, Original Prose or Poetry Interpretation, Wretched Interpretation, and a brand new event "Slam Poetry". (For this event, entries will prepare a non-published slam poem with a time-limit of 8 minutes. Poems may be found from anywhere and should be in the spoken-word or slam form, and interpreted as a poem would be in Poetry Interpretation.) 

 

There will be three preparations for Radio and Extemp. Varsity and Novice finals will be held.

 

Awards will be given to finalists in each event. Sweepstakes awards will be given to the top five schools in Varsity and the top three in Novice. 

 

Top ten outstanding speaker students will be awarded medallions. A student may enter up to five events. Remember students are responsible for getting to each event in the hour and a half round.

 

Entry fee for each team is $175.00. A team may bring up to three entries per event. Teams may bring additional entries at $5 per entry (duets will count as one entry). 

 

A team must bring one judge per six entries. (If your team has 48 entries, you must bring 8 judges.) 

 

The tournament will start with registration at 7:00 am, first round prep 7:45 am and round one at 8:30 am.
