Greeting coaches!  

     We would love to have you join us once again for a weekend of Novice competition.  We will be hosting a novice tournament this November 21st, at West Chicago Community High School. This tournament is for first year speakers only!  Not first time doing an event.  We would like to have a novice tournament with three prelim rounds and no final.  Ideally, we will be done shortly after 1:30pm.  Exact schedule is included.  This is an excellent opportunity for teams that have no place to send their novice competitors or who want to get another rep in to engage in some friendly novice, early season competition.  I would like to open this up to any team wanting to participate and cap novice entries at two per event.  I need to make sure that there is the interest and numbers before I can grant anyone a third entry.  You can request but no promises.  So, please enter your acceptance and numbers as soon as you can.  Nevertheless, rest assured, you will still be greeted warmly, treated royally and be involved in some good novice competition.  Entry Fees and Judge Expectations are as follows:

RULES:

 

FIRST YEAR SPEAKERS ONLY!!!...  (Please Follow this rule it really irks me when teams try to "sneak" in second year speakers.)

 

IMPROMPTU: Prompts will consist of Quotations, Phrases, and Proverbs. 

 

EXTEMP: All three rounds will be draws. Competitors will have 45 minutes of preparation time. 

 

RADIO: All three rounds will use a radio script prepared at home.  Remember to use news, sports, and weather, along with a commercial spot.  News should be no more than 24 hours old.  Competitors should bring their own materials for timing their broadcast.
