Hello everyone,

 

LPL invites you to our first tournament on Friday, October 9th, 2015 at Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Hills, IL. Thank you John Nash, Amanda Pettigrew and Moraine Valley Community College for your hospitality.

        

The tournament will be a six round tournament (as entry permits). At the same time as the tournament, we will also, once again, hold an introductory parliamentary debate workshop for new competitors. Students may enter the tournament OR register for the workshop, but not both. The workshop is a great opportunity for new students in your program to get a jump-start on learning the fundamentals of Parliamentary debate.

 

Please register your students for the workshop in the section in registration titled: "Debate Workshop." You can add each individual student's name into this section.

11:00  -   ROUND ONE/Workshop Session 1

12:10  -   ROUND TWO/Workshop Observation Round

1:20    -   ROUND THREE/Workshop Session 2

2:30    -   ROUND FOUR/ Workshop Observation Round

3:40    -   ROUND FIVE/ Workshop Session 3

4:50    -   ROUND SIX/ Workshop Observation Round

6:00    -   AWARDS 

 

Tournament Registration:

Please go to www.speechwire.com to submit your entries for the LPL at Moraine Valley on October 9, 2015. Registration for the tournament and workshop are due: Wednesday, October 7th, 2015 by 5:00pm. If you would like to register your team for the tournament: Register the students in their pairings under "parliametary debate". If you would like to register your students for the workshop, register them under "debate camp". 

 

Tournament Fees:

$50.00 yearly membership fees.

$10.00 for each covered team entered into the tournament portion (each judge covers 2 teams).

$5.00 for each student entered in the workshop portion.

$50.00 for each uncovered team entered into the tournament portion.

 

* Please note there is currently an issue with calculating workshop fees. We are working diligently to fix the issue but it may cause your tournament invoice in Speechwire to be incorrect. If there is no easy solution, LPL will manually calculate your fees and you will recieve a new involce at the tournament registration table on Friday, October 9th. 

 

There will be a coaches meeting/organizational meeting at 2:30pm on Friday, October 9th (at the tournament). If you have any proposals you would like to submit or items you would like the membership to discuss, please email those directly to Kacy Abeln at kacy.abeln@kishwaukeecollege.edu by 5:00pm on Friday, September 25, 2015.
