Judges: Judges need to be familiar and willing to accept the DSDL community norms. Guidelines can be found on the DSDL website.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Due to size constraints, this tournaments is limited to DSDL member schools only.

Schools will be guaranteed up to four entries in each category.

All other entries will be waitlisted.

Speech events will be patterned and students may only participate in one event in each pattern.

Student Congress:

  • Varsity Student Congeess legislation should remember the following information in regards to submission:
  • A school that enters competitors in the Congressional Debate division is required to submit at least one piece appropriately formatted legislation.
    • Legislation is tied to the student and not the school. Thus, each competitor may submit one piece of legislation. No competitor may serve as the author of more than one piece of legislation. 
    • Legislation must be submitted to Zach Becker at dogwoodlegislation@gmail.com no later than noon Tuesday, November 24, 2015.
    • Legislation will be posted no later than the Monday, November 30, 2015.
    • In order to expedite the release of the legislation packet, the League has adopted templates. They can be found on the website, but for ease they also have been posted to Speechwire.

 

Lincoln Douglas Topic:

  • Resolved: In the United States criminal justice system, jury nullification ought to be used in the face of perceived injustice.

 

Public Forum Debate:

  • Resolved: On balance, standardized testing is beneficial to K-12 education in the United States.

 

Lodging: The tournament hotel will the Holiday Inn Express located at 1706 Skibo Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28303.  Reservations need to be made by individual attendees directly with the hotel at (910) 867-6777. The room cost is $109.00 per night and includes breakfast. all reservations must be made no later than Monday, November 23, 2015. Another recommendation is the Extended Stayen at 408 Owen Dr. Fayetteville, NC 28304. Their current rate is $63.00 per night and includes a grab-n-go breakfast in the morning.
