15TH ANNUAL MARSHALL SPEECH SPECTACULAR!

WELCOME!
Your Speech Team is invited to the 15th Annual Marshall Speech Spectacular on January 30-31, 2015!  The Marshall High School Speech Team invites your team to one of the most diverse and prestigious Speech Tournaments in Minnesota!  Once again, "The Spectacular" will offer a very special tournament experience with up to 8 rounds of varsity competition, a separate novice division, a hotel voucher for new teams, and incredible competition from all across the state and nation!  Our goal is to provide your team members with a special, well-run tournament experience they will always remember!  We hope to see you in January for an event that is truly "SPECTACULAR!"

ENTRY DEADLINE
Your team must enter the tournament on this website by FRIDAY, JANUARY 23, 2015 AT 3:00PM.

ENTRY CHANGES
You can continue to freely make changes to your entry on this website until WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28 AT 3:00PM.  After that time, you can continue to make changes to your entry on this website but drops will not be refunded and adds will cost $10 each, $20 for Duo.

VARSITY DIVISION FORMAT
5 Preliminary Rounds in all events.
Quarters, Semis, and Finals in all events

NOVICE DIVISION FORMAT
5 Prelminary Rounds in all events.
Finals in all events.  (We have offered a novice division semi-final in the past for events that are large enough to warrant it).
A novice is a competitor who is new to the activity or new to his/her event.  Note that a Varsity Quarterfinalist earns more sweepstakes points than a Novice Champion.

FEES
$7 per entry/$14 per duo.  $25 team fee to cover the cost of the shuttle buses between buildings.  Entry fees should be paid before the tournament begins at registration on Friday.  Checks made out to Marshall Speech Boosters.

JUDGES
Teams are expected to bring 1 judge for every 6 entries.  Teams will be charged $30 for every uncovered entry.  While coaches are encouraged to label their judges as "interp" or "public address,"  all judges still should be prepared to judge all events.

JUDGE CAP
For our larger teams, all entries over 60 are judge free!

DOUBLE ENTERING
Double-entering is allowed. Students can double-enter in Discussion but may NOT double enter in Discussion and a draw event.  We do use two buildings for the tournament  (they very close to each other) and we have two shuttle buses that run continuously.  Competitors have had very little trouble double-entering in both buildings in the past.  Triple entering is NOT allowed.

TWO BUILDINGS
We do use two buildings for the tournament -- Marshall High School is the main location where registration, the tab room, the judges' lounge, and all rounds in most events are located.  Prelim rounds for some events are held across the street at Southwest Minnesota State University.  We do offer two continuous shuttle buses for competitors and judges to make the short trip.  Competitors who are double entered in both buildings will not have trouble getting to both events as the two shuttle buses run continuously and it is less than a 5 minute trip.  All out-rounds are held at Marshall High School.
