HAPPY NEW YEAR!
 
Here we are, again. Hopefully, with no snow storm this time!
 
Celebrate the new year (and the holidays that passed) with the Summit High Forensics team at our annual 
Summit Hilltopper Holiday Classic 
 Saturday, February 1, 2014 
Summit High School, 125 Kent Place Boulevard, Summit, NJ
 
EVENTS
We will be offering all of the 10 NJFL Speech Events:  Dramatic, Humorous, Duo, Prose, Poetry Interpretation; Improvisational Acting, Impromptu Speaking, Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, and Declamation.
 
Due to room restrictions, we can only offer VARSITY Public Forum. We regret that we do not have the room to offer LD. Please encourage your LD debaters to venture into new speech or interp events!
 
Students may double enter in any of the speech events, but may not double enter if competing in student congress or debate. 
 
There will be three preliminary rounds and one final round in all ten of the speech events.  The final round of EXTEMP will include cross-examination.
VARSITY PUBLIC FORUM will have four rounds with no final round.
 
In Public Forum, students will be debating the February resolution
 
CONGRESS will have two sessions.  Please email all BILLS by Friday, January 24.  We will upload the bills to SpeechWire by Mon. January 27.  
 
 
AWARDS
Awards will be given to the six finalists in each event, Top Non-Advancing Novice medals in each of the speech events, and Sweepstakes trophies to the top three schools.
 
REGISTRATION
The deadline for entry is Wed, January 29 at 5:00pm EST. Registration will be done online at www.SpeechWire.com. Adds and drops can be made without penalty on the website until Friday, January 31, at 5:00pm EST. A nuisance charge of $10 will be made to any drops made after this time. Adds at registration will incur a $5 nuisance charge. Dropped judges will incur a $125 penalty.  
 
FEES
Please present payment in the form of cash, check, or purchase order on the day of the tournament. 
 
Individual Speakers (each Duo Interpretation and Public Forum team counts as one slot):  $10.00 per slot
Hired Judges: $85.00 per judge
 
Please make checks/purchase orders payable to: Summit High School.
 
One judge for every 5 speech contestants and/or one judge for every 3 PF debate teams. 
 
 
SCHEDULE
 
REGISTRATION will be open from 7:45-8:30 am.  PLEASE arrive on time so that we can begin Round One promptly at 9:15am.
