Dear Coaches, 

 

The Normal West Speech Team is pleased to invite you to our annual invitational on Saturday, November 9.  Important information is noted below.  

 

FORMAT AND SCHEDULE

Registration will begin at 7:15 and will be in room 150 (second door on the left down the first hallway on on the left from the main entrance).  Each student will compete in three single-judged preliminary rounds for each event in which they are entered.  The three rounds will be spread across four time slots (8:15, 9:30, 10:45, and 12:00).  We will hold finals for the top six qualifiers in the varsity final (we will include ties; however no final will exceed eight competitors which means we reserve the right to run either a semi-final or next-in final, if necessary) and a junior varsity final (sophomores and all first-year competitors).  Due to the fact that most events will be running at the same time, we WILL NOT be able to facilitate triple entries.  

 

EVENT INFORMATION

Extemp will prep for each round in the IMC.

Radio should being a script ready to present with news no more than 24 hours old.

We will follow IHSA rules in all other events.

We will not be assigning penalties for time in the tab room.

 

ENTRIES

Each team is allowed to bring four entries per event.  We will try our best to accommodate requests to exceed the cap based on space in specific events.  Priority will be given to teams who reciprocate with us at their tournaments.

 

JUDGES

Each team is required to bring one judge for every entry or fraction thereof.  Judge requirements will be determined by the entries as of Wednesday, 11/6 at 3:00 despite any drops that may occur later.

 

FEES

1-7 entries:    $ 75.00

8-14 entries:   $100.00

15-28 entries:  $125.00

29-42 entries:  $150.00

43-56 entries:  $200.00

 

Please bring your checks with you when you register made payable to Normal West Speech Team.
