Saturday morning Registration from 7:00 to 8:15 First round to begin 8:30 AM
HCNFL/HHNFL Fall Congress: Committees will have a chance to discuss and choose legislation that can
be debated at the Spring District Congress. Schools interested in submitting bills should email them to
your respective chairs by October 16th
.
Congress-The Overview: Robert’s Rules of Order got you down? Interested in knowing how congress
works? Want to start a team but not sure where to begin? The Impecable Gregg Reed and some others
will be holding a session during Congress Committee time for Head and Assistant Coaches interested in
Congressional Debate.
Congress: bills 2, 4,6,8
Lincoln Douglas:Novice and Varsity will both use the September and October Varsity LD topic
“Resolved: In a democracy, voting ought to be compulsory”
Public Forum:Novice and Varsity will both use the September/October Topic “Resolved: Unilateral
military force by the United States is justified to prevent nuclear proliferation.”
Policy debate: Novice will restricted to the novice topics (from the NFHS website)
1) Lift the Cuban embargo
2) Lift all restrictions on agricultural sales to Cuba
3) Allow U.S. Oil companies to contact with Cuba for deep-water drilling
4. Lift the tourism Ban
Varsity topics are unrestricted.
Please notice: due to a lack of a parent’s organization Brebeuf will not have any snacks in the judges’
lounge; we apologize. But a big thanks to BEN DAVIS who will sell pizza for lunch.
Tentative Schedule:
8:00-8:30 Registration (confirm entries, etc.)
8:30-9:30 Congress Committee Work; Round 1 for PF, LD, and Policy
10:00 Congress begins debating 2,4,6,8; all other events continue rounds
3:00 Awards (or as early as possible)
