Tournament Guidelines:
- All 14 events (including Informative) will be judged based on IHSA guidelines.
- We are using SpeechWire to schedule and tabulate this year.  Please register online at http://www.SpeechWire.com
- There will be three preliminary rounds and NO final round.  Ties will not be broken.
- We use a graduated entry fee scale determined by the number of entries each school brings in order to be more economical to smaller team schools.  Fees will be based on initial registration OR actual registration (whichever is higher).
o 1 entry – 5 entries = $50.00
o 6 entries – 14 entries = $75.00
o 15 entries – 28 entries (full team) = $125.00
o 29 entries – 42 entries = $175.00
o more than 42 entries = $225.00
o Please make check payable to Glenbard North High School
- Each school is expected to bring one judge per six entries.  That means if you hit seven entries, you need two judges!
- Your team will be held responsible for the number of judges required per number of entries.  There will be a $100 fee for each judging assignment (2-3 rounds) the host school has to cover with hired judges.
- "Comfy" means exactly that, "Comfortable".  Contestants are encouraged to dress comfortably.  Comfortable does not mean sloppy or distracting.  Please leave the “Power Suits” at home in exchange for a nice pair of jeans and sweater (for example).  Judges will be told to not take apparel into consideration UNLESS it is sloppy or distracting.

- Radio: Please prep in advance with news from the last 24 hours.
- Extemp: Speakers will prep once before the first round of speeches and present this speech each round.  We will follow the new IHSA guidelines regarding Extemp and retrievable data.  Competitors must provide their own computer, flash drive, and are responsible for ensuring the battery is charged.

- Entry deadline will be Friday, November 29th.  This tournament has filled to capacity in four of the last five years, so sign up early!
- Ties will not be broken for individual awards.
- Each school may only have up to four entries per event.  Students may not be entered in more than two events.
- To be eligible for Team Sweeps, a school must have a minimum of 10 entries.  Team sweeps will be determined using the top 2 scores in each event divided by the number of entries (up to two per event) a school has.
- Time will not be officially taken by timekeepers, but judges will be allowed to comment on time.  Please have judges provide stopwatches.
- Lunch will be available and schools are encouraged to eat on site to ensure staying on, or ahead, of schedule.
- Each school with an Impromptu speaker is required to send 5 potential Impromptu topics (of a variety of types).  Each school with an Extemp speaker in required to send 5 potential Extemp questions.  These may be sent via e-mail or snail mail.
