Dear Speech Coach: March 1, 2012

Plans are under way for the Annual Underwood Junior High 7-9 Invitational Speech

Contest to be held at the Underwood High School, Monday, March 12, 2012.

Although there is no limit per event per school, please double-enter only

experienced speakers, and no triple entries will be allowed.

Registration will begin at 3:30 p.m. just outside the front office. The first

round of competition will begin at 4:00 p.m. All draw categories should come with

a prepared speech for Round I. The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for

6:30p.m. in the commons.

All drawings for Round II will take place in the library. Participants should be on

time and in order. Speakers may use the library as a preparation area for drawing

categories. Please help monitor this area to keep it quiet.

The cafeteria/commons area will be the student lounge. The concession stand will

be open for snack foods and lunch from 3:30 p.m. on.

Senior High judges are acceptable. We will have a special judges meeting in the

Elementary Science Lab at 3:50p.m. in order to explain procedures. The coaches

will use the teacher’s lounge where snacks will be available.

Copies of all the schedules will be posted in the cafeteria rather than given to the

contestants. Have your students check there for their speaking times, drawing

times, order of speaking and rooms.

You are to provide one judge for each 7 contestants or fraction thereof. The entry

fee is $4.50 for each entry. All registration changes must be made by Friday,

March 9th - Fees for drops will be assessed after that date.
