You are invited to the Varsity City Championship Dallas UDA tournament held at SMU

Few notes:

1.         Any team registered by the Thursday, February 9th deadline will be accommodated. Entering after the deadline – whether as a school or an individual team – will put your teams on a waitlist. If there are rooms available, teams will be accepted. If there are not rooms or judges, teams will not be admitted to the tournament. As with any waitlist, teams will be moved from the waitlist as space becomes available up until the tournament.

2. Any student may compete. I strongly encourage every student who has been competing in the JV division to enter. Students will not only be able to get a chance at qualifying for nationals, but also be able to add more debates to their totals (for their year long recognition as Core or Hardcore). Competing in the varsity division here will in no way impact their eligibility for the Novice & JV City Championships in April – and the extra practice will likely improve their chances for success then. 

3. New Schools – I strongly encourage you to send teams. You will need to prepare your beginners for a potentially less than competitively successful time, but they will learn quite a bit and hopefully get to know more the league. Furthermore, sitting out an entire tournament will drastically impact your yearlong school rankings.

4. If you have any students who would be interested in judging, please let me know. We will have a very small middle school division on Saturday for a new group with which we are working.
