Dear Forensics Coach and Team:

The Mason High School Speech & Debate Team cordially invites you to attend our 8th Annual Mason Speech & Debate Tournament on Saturday, January 28, 2012.

Individual Events: 

We will offer four (4) rounds of competition in all OHSSL Individual Events. Please limit IE to six (6) entries per category. No double entries are permitted. If you would like to bring more than the allotted amount in a particular category, then please send me your “wish list” request via e-mail. We will do our best to accommodate your additional requests if space allows.

Lincoln-Douglas & Public Forum Debate:

We will offer five (5) rounds of competition in LD & PF. Please limit debate entries to six (6) per category. We will accommodate more if room allows, so you may indicate your desired "wish list" number via e-mail.

We will follow the NFL's January debate resolutions as stated on the nflonline.org website.

Student Congress:

We will offer three (3) sessions of competition in SC. Please limit entries to eight (8) contestants. E-mail your desired “wish list” if you would like to bring more. Congress legislation will be the taken from the January OHSSL docket for January 28. Please obtain the legislation from ohssl.org. NO COPIES OF THE PACKET OF LEGISLATION WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE TOURNAMENT SITE FOR CONTESTANTS.

Registration Fees:

Please register on speechwire.com. Fees will be $5.00 per contestant regardless of event. Please make checks payable to Mason High School. (Fees should be paid at the time of registration in the MHS main lobby.)

Judge Requirements:

IE: One (1) judge for every five (5) entries or fraction thereof (a Duo team counts as one entry)

LD & PF: One (1) judge for every 1 or 2 debaters/teams

Congress: One (1) judge for every eight (8) contestants

Please note that if you drop contestants, you CANNOT drop judges! Judges must be available for all scheduled rounds.

Lunch & Snacks:

Breakfast, lunch, and snack items will be available for purchase at reasonable prices on Saturday in the Large Commons area. A complimentary lunch will be available to all judges and coaches in the hospitality room. All students, coaches, and judges should remain on campus for lunch.

Awards:

Trophies will be awarded to the top six placements in all events. Awards for team sweepstakes will also be given to the top three schools.

Registration: 7:45-8:15 AM (MHS Main Lobby)

Extemp Draw: 8:45 AM (Harvard Room for prep)

Opening Assembly: 8:30 AM for contestants (Auditorium); Extemp should report to the Harvard Room

Opening Meeting: 8:30 AM for ALL judges (Large Commons)

Registration Deadline: 

Your registration MUST be received by 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 24 via Speechwire. The drop deadline is by 3:00 PM on Thursday, January 26. We expect you to pay entry fees for all drops after this deadline. PLEASE DO NOT DROP JUDGES! Register at speechwire.com.
