Greetings MDL,
We’re excited to announce that registration is now open for the MDL December Tournament, to be held December 17th at the Professional Learning Institute.
To compete, please keep in mind the following:
-
Novice teams are limited to: Moon Base Affirmative and Negative, India DA, Space Debris Affirmative and Negative, and Topicality (all of these can be found in the WDCA packet). Argument summaries are available upon request.
-
There are no limits on what arguments the JV and Varsity can run, but teams must fully disclose 1ACs with citations by Monday, December 12 at 5:00 PM. While we won't require negative disclosure, we strongly urge you to do so anyway. Please email all disclosures to billaltorfer@urbandebate.org (for a template, see disclosure form in tournament registration announcement email). Disclosed affirmatives will be emailed out and posted on the tournament website on Monday evening. Be on the lookout for an email describing disclosure policy more thoroughly.
-
We will be offering Novice, JV, and Varsity divisions. These may be collapsed as needed due to numbers.
-
Tournament schedule is attached, and can also be found on the tournament website.
Please let us know by backchannel if you have any questions or have any issues.
Thanks,
Bill
To register, please create an account and email billaltorfer@urbandebate.org with your school's name from the email address that you use to register. The tournament is only open to those that are invited, so you MUST send your email and be invited before you can see details and register on the site. Creating an account and registering for SpeechWire to be invited does not constitute a commitment to attend.
If you have any questions, please email me at the address above, our wonderful Tab Room Coordinator Ms. Paige Pritchard mrs.prichard@rocketmail.com or contact Joni Chmiel (Executive Director of the MDL) at jonichmiel@urbandebate.org
Also, apologies for any SpeechWire-related oddities in advance. This is my first time using the software, so bare with me.
