Boardman High School Tournament
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Ohio. View manager contact information The Boardman High School Speech Team would like to invite you and your team to our 2010 Speech and Debate Tournament on Friday December 3rd & Saturday December 4th. TOURNAMENT INFORMATION: Competition: 4 Rounds for all competitors in Individual Events (2 Friday, 2 Saturday). Semi and Final Round for the top contestants in IE Events (After Rd 4 Saturday). 4 Rounds in LD & Public Forum Debate. Top 8 Debaters in each event will move on to Quarterfinal Rounds. Note - Again we will stagger both debate events rather than flight each. 2 sessions of Congress followed by a Semi and Final round (number of entries permitting). Entries: 6 Entries in all Individual Events - 4 will be Varsity, 2 others treated as JV. No more than 4 Entries in any one Debate category. Congress entries will be unlimited unless numbers become too large. No adds beyond these limits on the day of the tournament please. Deadlines: Registration: 1:00 PM on Monday November 29, 2010. Tournament Check-in: Friday - BHS Main Office 4:00 - 4:30 PM. Saturday - Coaches check-in by 8:45/Rounds at 9:00. Fees: $6.00 per student in IE, LD and Congress. $12.00 per Duo & Public Forum Teams. Make checks payable to: Boardman High School. Awards: Individuals: 1st through 6th place in all events. Final places determined by way of Final Rounds in IE, Congress and Break Rounds in Debate. Teams: Trophies for 1st through 3rd based on Final & Break Rounds (OHSSL State Scoring). 2 Points will be awarded for non-advancing semi-finalists. Other scores will be determined by the state tournament scoring in Final Rounds. Debate Sweepstakes will be included based upon state scoring from Quarters-Finals. Judges: 1 judge for every 5, or majority fraction of 5, IE entries. 1 judge for 1 or 2 Debate entries. You must cover both your LD and Public Forum entries. Extemp: Prep Room - TBA. Questions will be taken from the events of the past 90 days. Impromptu: Quotations will be used in all rounds. Students may keep their quotation slips to refer to while speaking. Debate: LD - Current November/December NFL topic (Drugs and Rahabilitation). PF - December NFL topic (Cyber-Bullying). Food: Food will be provided for pre-tournament, lunch and dinner times. Please, do NOT leave the building for food. This has been a problem in the past and will result in disqualification. This applies to students, judges, coaches and parents.
