Downers Grove South Novice Invitational
General information This information is from a tournament in a past season! This is a High School tournament in Illinois. View manager contact information September 12, 2011 Dear Coach: This is your invitation to attend a Novice Speech Tournament being held at Downers Grove South High School on Saturday, November 12, 2011. This will be a three (3) round, no final, tournament for first year competitors only. ENTRY: You may enter two (2) competitors in each event for a total of 28 entries. You may request extra entries. Extras will be admitted if space permits and first preference will be given to those schools that make the same available to us. School with extra entries will need to pay an extra fee and will need additional judges. JUDGES: One (1) judge for each five (5) entries or fraction thereof (maximum of 5). If you have extra entries, you will need extra judges. You are responsible for the number of judges needed based on your original entry. SCHEDULE 7:15AM Registration 7:45 Extemp Draw Round I 8:30 Round I All Events 9:30 Extemp Draw Round II 10:00 Round II All Events Except Extemp 10:15 Round II Extemp 11:00 Extemp Draw Round III 11:30 Round III All Events Except Extemp 11:45 Round III Extemp 12:00 noon Lunch - no lunch will be served. There are fast food places in the area. 1:30 Awards - Auditorium FEES: Entry fee of $125.00 per school for two entries. There will be an additional $75.00 fee for third entries. This fee will be applied to all schools that have any third entries. You must call or email to make arrangements for a third entries. Except in emergencies, we do not want to do extra entries at registration. Please plan ahead. Make checks payable to Downers Grove South Masque & Gavel. Fees can be sent ahead of time to my attention at: Downers Grove South HS 1436 Norfolk Downers Grove, Illinois 60516 RULES RADIO: Students should come with a prepared script, including commercial, with news no more than 24 hours old. EXTEMP: Students will prep for 45 minutes. We will have three (3) preps. INFORMATIVE: We will have competition in the newest IHSA event. Check the IHSA website for rules. TIME: No prescribed penalty (except in Radio). AWARDS: Individual awards will be given to first, second and third place finishers. (Maybe 4th if we have enough prizes!) No ties will be broken and there will be no team trophies. No speaker points ever! Please return the enclosed entry form no later than Monday, October 17, 2011.
