Setting up a SpeechWire coach account

Introduction

SpeechWire does not allow coaches to simply sign up for accounts - they must first be invited to a tournament by a tournament manager to verify that they are indeed the coach of the team they are creating an account for. If you have ever received an invitation to a tournament via SpeechWire, you will have received a team key as part of the invitation. If you have a team key for any tournament already, please skip to the 'SETTING UP YOUR ACCOUNT WITH YOUR TEAM KEY' section.

Getting your first invitation

If you have not yet received an invitation via SpeechWire, you will either need to wait for a coach to invite you to their tournament, or you can request entry into an "Open" tournament (one that is not being run as an invitational). Once you have an account set up, you can simply sign up for "Open" tournaments, but the first time, you need to request an invitation so that you can set up your account. Here's how to do that:

1. Click 'Tournament calendar' on the left side of the screen.

2. Find the tournament you want to attend, and click the 'OPEN - Register' link for that tournament. Any tournament with an 'OPEN - Register' link is an "Open" tournament - the rest are invitationals, and are not open to people who the manager has not personally invited.

3. You will see a page with information on registering for the tournament. You will also see, in bold face, the email address of the manager. Email the manager and explain that you don't yet have a SpeechWire coach account, and you would like an invitation to their tournament. If they have room in the tournament for another team, they may add your team and send you an email invitation. This invitation will have a team key in it that you can use to set up your account.

Setting up your account with your team key

Once you have a team key, you can set up a coach account by doing the following:

1. Click the 'Coaches' tab at the top of the screen.

2. In the 'Log in with a team key' section, select the tournament that the team key is for, and then type or paste in the team key. Click 'Log in'.

3. At the top of the page, you should see a section encouraging you to set up a coach account. Follow those instructions to set up an account for your team associated with your email address.
