Experience Level: I have coached high school debate club since 2021. My direct experience in debate is limited to coaching and judging; I was not part of a debate club in high school or college. I primarily coach & judge Public Forum.

Judging Philosophy: I value logical arguments supported by evidence and clear reasoning. I favor arguments presented clearly, without excessive jargon or theory.

Preferences:

Rate of Delivery: A pace that ensures understanding of the arguments. I can follow a decent speed, but I don't think spreading is effective or relevant in public forum. I would recommend prioritizing quality over quantity.

Note-taking: I flow arguments and evidence and look for clashes between the teams.

Criteria for Assessment: I consider the strength of the arguments, the evidence presented, the relevance to the topic, and the ability to engage with the opposing side's points. In PF, dropped arguments are highly considered. Effective weighing and a strong impact, and, when applicable, a framework can win you the round.

In-Round Conduct: Expect respectful discourse, with a focus on the quality of debate over theatrics.
