I am new to judging speech and debate. With that said I am familiar with the art of the debate and the process of making logical arguments. I have a JD and a legal background. I have experience teaching all the different high school social studies courses. I am big on evidence and arguments that make sense. I do appreciate some creativity.

I value clear and concise arguments. Theory and Ks be nice and they must connect to your argument in a way that I can follow. As long as they are explained I am good, but I flow what I can understand. Roadmap or at least summarize what you want me to evaluate on at the end of your speeches this helps lay judges that get stuck in break tech rounds.

Please speak at a conversational pace. Do not spread. I will evaluate what I hear and not what I read on your cards. Your ability to present your case and your contentions in an effective way is what debate is all about.

I evaluate on what I can make sense of so please be sure to roadmap your argument clearly.

Things not to do:

Don't make arguments that are racist/sexist/homophobic.

Do not make arguments that are blatantly false.

Don't steal prep.

Do not ask or make arguments for speaker points.
