Seventy-First High School Open

Dear Coaches, we are delighted to invite you to the Seventy-First Open Speech and Debate Tournament.
We are offering competition in 13 events: Lincoln-Douglas (Novice and Varsity), Public Forum Debate (Novice and Varsity), Congress, Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Impromptu Speaking, Program Oral Interpretation, Informative Speaking, Oral Interpretation, and Storytelling. All events will follow NSDA guidelines unless otherwise noted under Event Rules (see STY, OI, and IMP, ).
All categories (with the exception of Congress) will compete in 4 rounds. The top six from each category will be recognized at our awards ceremony.
Registration will close on Wednesday, February 27, at 5:00 pm. Any drops made after this time will be subject to losing the entry fee.
Congress legislation will be posted soon.
Debate will be using February's topics.
Public Forum Debate Resolved: The United States should end its arms sales to Saudi Arabia.
Lincoln Douglas Resolved: The United States ought not provide military aid to authoritarian regimes.
Registration will begin at 7:45 and end promptly at 8:45. We will have a judge's meeting at 9:00. If you are running behind for registration, please call Julie Rice at 910-977-1382.
