STRIVE Prep Speech Showdown

Dear colleagues,

You are cordially invited to the 1st Annual STRIVE Prep Speech Showdown! This SPEECH ONLY competition will be be held at STRIVE Prep RISE High School on Saturday, November 3^rd. This tournament is a collaboration of the STRIVE Prep RISE and the STRIVE Prep SMART forensics programs.

Tournament Highlights:

This tournament will be “I.E. Heaven”! No waiting on debate rounds to post or to finish, 4 prelim rounds for all events, and the chance to double or TRIPLE enter!

We’ll also be recognizing the top “triathlete” of the tournament with a special (and very cool) “Triathlon Award” for the student who performs the best that day based off the number of times they appear in finals and their placement therein.

Events: HI, DI, POI, Poetry, Duo, FX, DX, Info, OO, Impromptu

Doubling/Tripling: Due to time, Extempers may only double enter, not triple enter.  All other students may triple enter. A student cannot enter both versions of Extemp.

Schedule:

8:00-8:30am: Registration

9:00am: Round 1

10:30am: Round 2

Noon: Round 3

1:30pm: Round 4

3:00pm: Finals

5:00pm: Awards

Judges: We will be doing judges slightly differently, so please read carefully:

1. All schools are asked to bring 1 judge for every 8 entries. There is a $20 fee for every uncovered judge (note: NOT uncovered entry)
2. We ask that all schools register their judges ahead of time on Speechwire. This allows us to pair judges rounds ahead of time.
3. Because we can pair judges ahead of time, we will be giving teams their judges “dance cards” at registration. This means your judges will know at the beginning of the tournament when they are judging.
4. We will pay the judges you bring $10 a round. Just please guarantee they come!

Fees and Payment:

The entry fee will be $10 per student, per event ($20 per Duo).
