Let's try this again!

This tournament will be held on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 at Everglades High School! Please note that this is a date change from the original schedule!

Registration will close on Monday, February 4th at 5pm. Changes (drops or name changes) can be made until 12pm on that Wednesday (the day of the tournament). Any hidden drops will result in your school being fined $25 per drop. You will be able to make your own changes until 12pm on that Wednesday. Any changes after that, please text Megan West: 940.206.3806, Jaime Akkusu: 561-706-5375, or Justin Weaver: 954.790.8160 the school name, student who is dropping, and her/his event.

You need to provide 1 judge for every 5 students for this event. Parents of the students, administrators, and teachers are a great place to start asking for judges! Also reach out to your feeder high schools to see if they can send veteran debaters to judge for you! Your mentor can help you get in touch with your feeder coaches.

In order to maintain the safety and integrity of the tournament, we are requiring that the only parents in attendance at the tournament are official judges or chaperones. Chaperones who are not judges will not be permitted in tournament rooms. They also need to be cleared through the district's star system. We appreciate your cooperation with this!

Buses will pick-up students at their home schools between 12:00pm and 1:30pm and take them to Everglades High School. All attendees will be directed to their holding location.  Coaches will need to check-in at the "registration desk" and then monitor their students. After the Everglades bell rings (2:40pm), students will be released to report to their rounds. Round 1 is scheduled for 3:15 and Round 2 is scheduled for 4:30. Congress will have ONE SESSION from 3:15-5:15. Awards will be in the Gymnasium around 5:45pm. Snacks and pizza will be available for purchase in the cafeteria (students will have to eat in the cafeteria). Buses will pick up at Everglades High School at 6:00pm.

Congress legislation for February was provided in the Elementary Debate Canvas Course. It can also be found on this website under "Files for Download". Please let Justin Weaver know ASAP if you need the legislation re-sent to you. Your students in Congressional Debate should be prepared for "A Bill to Fund Playground Shade Canopies" and "A Bill to Eliminate the Use of Animal Skins and Furs in Fashion".

More information may be sent out as the tournament approaches. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
