Dear Speech and Debate Coach,

The Bulgarian English Speech and Debate Tournaments Foundation (BEST), in conjunction with the Agrarian University in Plovdiv, invites high school students who have previously competed in a regional BEST tournament during this academic year to register now for the BEST National Speech and Debate Tournament of the 2017-2018 season.

The tournament will be held 27-29 April 2018 at the Agrarian University in Plovdiv.

This competition will be a challenging, engaging, and fun opportunity for students to practice their public speaking and argumentation skills in English, as well as meet other motivated students from around the country.

Students can compete individually in the following events: Prose, Poetry, or Oratory. They can also compete in teams of two in Duo or teams of three in World Schools Debate. Detailed explanations and rules for each event are outlined in the Events Overview page. Participants are divided into Novice (Grades 8 and 9) or Varsity (Grades 10, 11, 12) divisions. Novice students can compete in Varsity if they so choose. Novice competitors must compete in Varsity if they are competing in a team event (Duo or Debate) and their teammates are in the Varsity division. 

Winners will receive medals, certificates, and local media publicity.
