Tournament Information
Location: Eagan High School, 4185 Braddock Trail Eagan, MN 55123 Registration Information: All registration will take place on the SpeechWire website (www.speechwire.com). Remember that all teams can enter a maximum of 39 entries in the section tournament. How you place your 39 entries is entirely up to you. All registrations must be in no later than 4:00 PM on Thursday March 16, 2017 and all changes to your entry made no later than 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2017. Section 3AA Schools: The following schools are assigned to compete in Section 3AA for Speech. Tournament Logistics
Tournament Format: We will hold 3 preliminary rounds of competition and a final round of competition in every event. The top 7 students from preliminary competition will advance to the final round in each event. The top 3 students in the final round of competition will advance to the MSHSL Class AA State Speech Tournament to be held at Apple Valley High School on Friday April 21, 2017. Team Arrival at Tournament: Please arrive between 1:30 and 2:15 PM so that registration can be completed by 2:30 PM. There is a competitor meeting at 2:45 p.m. in the cafeteria/student commons. All teams should have their busses drop them off at our lower east entrance located along Braddock Trail. Students and coaches should congregate in the cafeteria/student commons until the school day is out. School does not end until 2:15 PM.; students can use the cafeteria as a place to congregate throughout the evening in between rounds of competition. Team Registration: Registration will take place in the cafeteria/student commons of Eagan HS. It is critical that you call in all changes to Chris McDonald by 2:30 p.m.; a call from the bus would be optimal to faciliate the scheduling process. Please call 651-283-5976 with all drops to your entry. Adds are not permitted on the day of the tournament. Draw/Prep Room: All draw events and preparation for those events will take place in the Eagan High School Library. Ballot Drop/Tab Room: The tab room will be located in Conference Room D. The ballot drop will be stationed outside of this room. Timers: Every school is required to provide the section with at least 1 timer to be used during the course of the section tournament. All official timers will be paid $35.00 for the day of timing by Section 3AA. All schools should send the name of their timer to Chris McDonald no later than Monday, March 6th so that payment can be processed in a timely manner. You can email the names of your timers to chris.mcdonald@district196.org Please remind all timers that they will need to bring 2 forms of ID with them to the tournament (a Drivers License or Passport, and their Social Security Card) in order to process payment. Judges/Coaches Lounge: The judges/coaches lounge will be located in Room 282. A short judges meeting will take place in this room at 3:30 PM. Student Lounge/Gathering Area: Students may use the cafeteria area as their gathering area throughout the tournament. Concessions will be available in the cafeteria for purchase by all tournaments participants. Awards: Awards will be held in the EaganHigh School Auditorium; we are scheduled to begin awards at 9:30 pm so please have all students seated in the auditorium so that we can get through the night as quickly as possible.
