The New London Forensics Team is pleased to welcome you to our annual Student Congress on Friday, March 10th and Forensics Tournament on Saturday, March 11th, 2017!  We are looking forward to a full day of exciting, high quality competition and can't wait to welcome you to our district.  Some helpful information:
 
*Competition will be held at NLHS and NLMS. Buses will be available to shuttle people between the two buildings, this distance is not walk-able.  
 
*Concessions will be available for purchase in the commons at the HS.  Food for coaches and judges will be available in the Judges' Lounge at the HS.  Food/beverages will NOT be available at the MS.
 
*Rounds: Registration - 7:30 - 8:00am, Extemp/Radio Draw - 8:15am in HS Library, ROUND I ALL EVENTS: 8:45, ROUND II ALL EVENTS: 10:00, ROUND III ALL EVENTS: 11:15, POWER ROUNDS : Approximately 12:45pm, AWARDS: 2:45pm.
 
*OIL order and Storytelling order will be determined by random drawing at 7am, March 111th.

ENTRIES: Each school may submit up to 25 varsity entries. No more than 4 varsity entries per category. NOVICE Prose and NOVICE Poetry have been renamed "Prose Reading" and "Poetry Reading". These two NOVICE events will be offered to FIRST YEAR forensics students only.  Double AND triple entries are allowed, but it is the student's responsibility to inform the judge of their status.  Please refrain from  triple entry in the categories of Radio and Extemp.
 
FEES: Entry fees are $10.00 per individual entry and $12.00 per group entry. Schedules will be adjusted to account for adds and drops until 4:00pm on Friday, March 10th.  We will do our best to accommodate any late adds that occur beyond this time, but not all late adds may be honored due to space limitations.
 
JUDGES: Each school must provide one judge for every five entries or portion thereof. We have a limited number of hired judges available for you at a cost of $125 per judge. Teams with over 50 entries/10 judges are required to hire judges from the tournament. Total entries are not capped.
 
AWARDS: Individual trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category. All finalists will receive medals. Team trophies will be awarded to the the top four large teams, top three medium teams, and top two small teams with more than 5 entries.
 
RULES: All WFCA rules will be followed. Please note changes from last year. We will offer Oratorical Declamation. NCFL rules and critiques will be used.  If you are interested, more information on this event can be found at: http://www.ncfl.org/declamation. 
 
FOOD: On Saturday, food will be provided for judges and coaches at the high school. We plan to operate out of two buildings, there will NOT be a hospitality room located at the middle school.  Additional food will be available for purchase in our commons area at the high school. 
 
STUDENT CONGRESS: If interest warrants, Student Congress will run on Friday.  You may email entries AND legislation to mervin@newlondon.k12.wi.us by Friday, March 3rd, at 5pm.  I will email all legislation to participating schools on Monday, March 6th. Dinner is included in registration fees and a Lenten/vegetarian-friendly option will be available. Congress entries will not be reflected in your Speechwire invoice but should be added when you submit registration fees to your district's financial office. Please note: New London is also hosting the NCFL Student Congress qualifier on this date. Please keep this in mind and register your participants accordingly. Registrations for the GBCFL Student Congress qualifier should occur in accordance with information that will be sent out by Kirt Graves and Ron Steinhorst.
