Hello forensics coaches.

On behalf of the administration, forensics staff, and students of Sheboygan South High School, we are pleased to once again open our doors to you for our annual Forensics Invitational and Student Congress Tournament.  Student Congress competition will be held on Friday February 24th, and all Forensics events will be held on Saturday February 25th.
We are excited to offer students the opportunity to double or triple enter in multiple categories once again this year, with the exception that students competing in extemp or radio may only compete in one other category if they wish and may not compete in both radio and extemp.
Please also note that students entered in multiple categories may not use interp material in more than one category (i.e. a Poetry selection that is also incorporated into a Farrago or used as part of an Oral Interp program, or an Oratory topic that is also presented in shorter form as an Informative Speech).
We will be hosting events at two different buildings with a shuttle bus running between the two of them.  Students who are entered in multiple evens must be aware that it is their responsibility to move between rounds in a timely manner.

Entries and Categories
Each school will be permitted 25 varsity entries.  You may enter as many students as you like, but only the top 25 scores will count towards your team sweepstakes points.  You may register up to 8 entries per category, but no more than 4 will be counted for team sweepstakes points.  All WFCA forensics categories will be offered.  Rules can be found at http://www.wfcaforensics.org
**We will also offer two extra categories.**  Impromptu Speaking will be offered as a regular category alongside the standard WFCA categories.  Impromptu Speaking rules can be found at the WFCA website.  Additionally, Oratorical Declamation as a category for any freshmen or sophomore competitor who wishes to enter.  Rules for Oratorical Declamation will follow Catholic Forensics League rules, which can be found at http://www.ncfl.org

Registration
We will be utilizing the Speechwire web site for registration, scheduling, and tabulation.  To register your team, visit: http://www.speechwire.com
If you have already attended a meet that has used this system, your team should be all set up and ready to go.  If this is your first tournament through Speechwire, you'll need to create an account for your team and enter your students before you register.
Please submit an initial registration for your team by 5:00 on Sunday, February 19th.  You can manage your own drops and adds yourself through the Speechwire site through 5:00 on Thursday, February 23rd.  After that, your total fees will be locked.  Any drops after 5:00 on Thursday will need to be emailed to bkroll@sasd.net
Any questions about using Speechwire?  Send an email to bkroll@sasd.net or call (414)688-2817.

Fees
Individual entries - $9.00
Group entries - $15.00
You are responsible for all fees as of Thursday, February 23rd at 5:00.

Judges
You are responsible for bringing 1 judge for every 5 entries or fraction thereof.  A limited number of hired judges are available at the rate of $125 per judge.
Teams with more than 60 entries are limited to bringing a total of 12 judges with them.  Any additional judge requirements for these teams must be hired through the tournament at the rate of $125 per judge.
Schools competing in student congress will need to provide 1 judge for every 8 contestants

Food
Concessions will be available throughout the day in the South High Commons.  Please plan on eating on-site so power rounds are not delayed.

Awards
Trophies will be given to the top three contestants in each category.  All other finalists shall receive medals.
Large team trophies will be awarded to the top four teams based on the total prelim scores of the top 25 speakers for the team.  Small team trophies will be awarded to the top three schools with 8 to 20 entries based on the average of quality points per student.
In addition, we will award a "triathlon trophy" to the top triple entered student.  The trophy will be awarded to the student with the lowest total preliminary round scores.
Once again this year, we are teaming up with Sheboygan North to offer a special "Sheboygan Crown" award.  Schools that compete at both the Sheboygan South Tournament on February 25th and the Sheboygan North Tournament on March 4th will be eligible.  The school with the highest total points amongst its top four speech entries and top four interp entries at each tournament will win this highly coveted award.
