Greetings Speech Coaches!

We are excited to invite you to attend our Jaguar Jabber to be held at Howells-Dodge Consolidated School in Howells on Wednesday, January 25, 2017!

Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. with a Drop/Add Announcement being made at approximately 7:45 a.m. As we utilize more than one building, we ask that everyone stay on the main level of the school until that announcement has been made.  Homeroom and the awards ceremony will occur in the gym, while posting of finalists will be in the commons area. We will be utilizing SpeechWire for our registration, as well as for the tabulation of the tournament. All results will be available on the SpeechWire website.

DEADLINE: The deadline for our entries will be Thursday, January 19, 2017. Registration will close at 6:00 p.m. You can update and change your entries as many times as you want up until that time, but no additions will be allowed after this time. Additionally, any entry fees on drops after the 6:00 p.m. deadline will not be refunded.

FORMAT: The tournament will consist of two preliminary rounds with one judge followed by one final round with two judges (varsity only; JV will have one finals judge).  The top six competitors in each division will advance to the final round of competition.  All finalists will receive medals.  The champion and runner-up teams in each division will receive a plaque. Students may be entered in JV in one event and varsity in another, if that is where you feel they belong.

ENTRIES: Competitors may enter up to three events.  Events will be flighted upon receiving entries. Extemp prep will be in the Ag room, located southwest of the main entrance of the building. 

JUDGES: You will need to provide one judge for every six entries. Any uncovered entries will incur a $12 fee per entry. Please designate whether your judges are JV or JV/Varsity judges - failure to indicate this kicks them out of judging.  All judges will need to be on call for finals.

FEES: The entry fee will be $7.00 per entry, both individual and group events. Please bring your check along on the date of the tournament.

FOOD: A hospitality room will be provided for coaches, judges, and bus drivers. There will be a concession stand offering a variety of options throughout the day.

SCHEDULE: As we have done in the past, we make every effort to run awards by 3:45 p.m. (if not sooner). The first round will begin at 8:00 a.m. and the finals are scheduled to run at 1:00 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.

THE MORNING OF: If there are any drops the morning of the tournament, those can either be emailed, texted, or called in (using my cell phone).
