Husker Holiday Tournament (CANCELED)

View manager contact information Dear Colleagues, The coaches and students of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Speech & Debate Team cordially invite you to our tenth annual high school tournament to be held on Saturday, December 17th, 2016 As UNL’s Director of Speech and Debate, I am excited at the opportunity to provide the best possible tournament for the high school forensics community. Please rest assured that we will respect the standards and paradigms to which you and your students are accustomed. We will make every effort to hire judges who regularly evaluate high school tournaments and who have a strong background in high school forensics. With your help we hope to offer a tournament that is fun, professional, and educational for all involved. We will offer two preliminary rounds and finals. The following events will be offered at the tournament: Extemporaneous Speaking, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Duo Interpretation, Poetry, Impromptu, Oratory, Oral Interpretation of Drama, Entertainment Speaking and Informative Speaking. Trophies will be awarded for 1st-3rd places and medals for 4th-6th place. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies will be awarded for school sweepstakes. In order to accommodate schools who normally perform Duet, we have extended the time limit of Duo to 12 minutes. Entry forms must be in by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday the 13th of December. All entries will be via SpeechWire.com. Fees for the tournament will be $7 per slot and an additional $8 per uncovered slot. Each judge you provide will cover 6 slots. We have plenty of hired judges available if you are unable to cover your slots. Registration will be in the College of Business Administration room 144. The tournament will be run out the College of Business Administration with most if not all competition rooms located in this building. Should the tournament warrant it we may also use additional rooms in Burnett Hall. Parking: You may park in any university lot and will not be ticketed. The closest lot is on 14th and Vine. If you park in the garage or a meter spot you will need to pay. Food: The UNL forensics team will once again be providing food for judges and competitors at the tournament free of charge. Additionally, the UNL Student Union will also be open during this time if you wish to purchase additional food. Our goal is to offer the best possible forensics experience for you and your students.
