Dear Coaches:

 

Laurel School is proud to invite you to its 13th annual Speech and Debate Tournament, to be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016. We are pleased and excited to offer this event, which will bring together the many outstanding students and coaches from throughout Ohio. We hope you will plan to join us!

 

Entries

We will, of course, offer all OHSSL events. Although we have offered double entry in speech events in the past, we regret that we cannot do so this year due to space limitations. Therefore, each competitor may enter only one event. In addition, we must limit each team's entries in each event to four, with the exception of Congressional Debate where we will accept six entries. Entries above these caps will be placed on a waiting list and will be accepted if space allows.

 

Please remember, NO SOLO DEBATERS IN POLICY OR PF!

 

Judges

We require that you provide 1 judge for every 2 LD competitors (or fraction), 1 judge for every 2 Public Forum teams (or fraction), and 1 judge for every 2 Policy teams (or fraction). In IE, we require one judge for every five (5) entries (duos count as one entry). We’d greatly appreciate your covering your judge requirements so that the tournament will run smoothly. 

 

Fees

Tournament fees will be $3.00 per contestant. We regret that we cannot accept purchase orders. Please bring cash or a check made payable to Laurel School. Also, we cannot accept ADDS on tournament day. We will hold registration open in Speechwire until Friday at noon. You may not add competitors after that time.

 

Food

We regret that the days of the fabulous Laurel lunch have ended. Normal tournament fare will be available for purchase. Judges, of course, will be well provided for free of charge.

 

Registration

Please register by Friday, November 4th, at 12:00 PM. (We may close earlier, especially in debate events, if we reach capacity.) Registration for this tournament will be conducted exclusively through SpeechWire. Only registrations from OHSSL registered school accounts will be accepted.
