Greetings Coaches!

 

Lyons Township and Argo speech teams have teamed up to bring you our 3rd annual Varsity/Novice tournament.  We would like to invite you to attend the Lyons/Argo  “Lights, Camera, Speech” Tournament on January 7th.  This year, the tournament will be held at Argo Community High School.  Our goal is to provide a warm, inviting tournament for all participants.

 

A novice is a speaker who is on speech team for their first year regardless of their year in school.  If you indicate that a speaker is novice, and that speaker is in the top 6 from prelims, he or she will compete in the varsity finals.  Speakers will not be penalized for being classified as a novice.

 

We are capping entries at 4 per event.  No student may be triple entered.  

Our tab room is open to all head coaches.  Please let us know if you intend on helping that day by emailing us.

 

THE SCHEDULE

- There will be two prelims for all events (each event will be double judged in one round)

- Registration will be at 7:00 am, and the first round will be at 8:00 am.  Awards should be between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

- Ideally, there will be finals Varsity, Next-In, and novice (depends on turnout).  Please designate if your students are novice.

 

TEAM ENTRY

1-28 entries                 $150.00

29-42 entries               $175.00

43+ entries                  $225.00

 

THE JUDGING

Each team will need to supply 1 judge per 6 entries.

*Each team will be responsible for the number of judges based on their original entry number. Contestant drops on the tournament day will not decrease your number of required judging assignments.  

*Please supply your judges with stopwatches for limited prep events. 

 

Please indicate if a judge is clean.  Please make an attempt to bring at least one clean judge.

DEADLINES:

Please RSVP on Speechwire and enter preliminary numbers by December 1st so we can make final decisions regarding space and schedule.

 

 

Please email your Impromptu and Extemp topics by WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 3rd.

 

We will close Speechwire at 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 5 so we can run the tournament on Friday morning.  If you have drops after that, please call/text (708-334-1365) us immediately.
