Entry Limits:
Each Varsity category has a cap of 80 entries total.
Each Novice category has a cap of 40 entries total.
Each team has a cap of 8 Varsity and 5 Novice entries per category.

Double and Triple Entries:
Students may double or triple enter with a few exceptions:
- Students in one draw category may enter one other non-draw category.
- Students in Discussion may not double enter in a draw category.

Entry Fees:
$7.00 per entry (Duos count as 1 entry)

Judging Requirements:
Teams are required to bring 1 judge for every 7 entries. NEW THIS YEAR: Please designate which judges you would like at East Ridge and at Lake Middle School during registration. Additional judges will be available to hire for $90.00 if teams cannot meet this requirement. Please contact Alex Carlson as soon as possible if you anticipate you will need to hire a judge.

Tournament Divisions:
This tournament will offer both a Varsity and Novice division. A Novice is considered someone who is in their first year as a high school speech competitor. NEW THIS YEAR: Varsity and Novice will compete separately in prelims and Novices will have their own final round.

Tournament Format:
There will be three preliminary rounds of competition followed by a Final consisting of Varsity students who ranked 1-6 in prelims and a Next-In Final consisting of Varsity students who ranked 7-12 in prelims. If there is a high number of entries in Humorous, Drama, Duo, or Original Oratory, there may be a Merit and Consolation final added for contestants who ranked 13-18 and 19-24 in prelims (in order to give each of those students a NIETOC bid). There will also be a Novice Final consisting of the top 6 ranked Novice students.

Second Building:
NEW THIS YEAR: All preliminary Novice competition with the exception of draw categories and Discussion will take place at Lake Middle School. All Varsity rounds, Novice draw categories and Novice Discussion will take place at East Ridge High School. All final rounds (Varsity and Novice) will take place at East Ridge High School. Two shuttle buses will be provided to bring Novices to East Ridge when their rounds are completed. Please have your bus drop off students at both locations in the morning.
