I Speak for Others Award

I Speak for Others Award

The annual I Speak for Others Award is an honor given during our award ceremony at our tournament.  Winning students will receive acknowledgement at the tournament ceremony and a plaque recognizing them for their efforts.

The I Speak for Others Award recognizes a current high school speech and debate student for outstanding achievement in protecting and speaking for the rights of others.  We as coaches and teachers educate students how to communicate and require them to become knowledgeable about what is going on in the world; however, only a special few students engage in an activity to use their speaking skills to advance an important issue. Thus we are asking you to nominate a student you think deserves recognition for speaking for others. Their activity could be a class project, an extracurricular activity, a charity trip, a fundraiser, or any other activity that demonstrates their willingness to speak for others. Please nominate this individual by sending an email to Kylie Wurgler at wurglerkylie@rsdmo.org by February 9th, 2018. In the email, please explain why you chose the student you selected and provide reasons as to why you believe they deserve the I Speak for Other Award. A student on your team may submit an entry as well for a student they believe is deserving of this award.

Nomination requirements:

Active member of a speech and debate team

Must compete at The Marquette High School Speech and Debate Tournament
