2021 Duo Improv Round:

Instructions for Judges:

  • When a group comes into your room to perform, ask which performer they’d like you to see on the left side of your screen.
  • PIN that performer’s screen first, then choose “Add a PIN” for the other performer as well.  That should allow you to see both performers’ screens side-by-side simultaneously.
  • When you are ready, read the SCENE for the performers as listed below. Immediately after you finish reading the scene, partners can discuss it shortly.
  • While they are discussing, copy/paste the LINES into the chat - direct message just ONE line to EACH performer, so they can’t see each other’s lines
  • The performers SHOULD NOT read your chats until they are ready to READ the line in their performance at some point (with that being said, they will need to open the chat, which will somewhat “delay” their blocking/performance - so keep that in consideration when judging the continuity of their performance). As soon as you finish providing the lines, inform the speakers that you are starting the 3-minute timer.
  • They can continue discussing if they’re not finished, but the timer starts regardless.Give the speakers a signal at 2:30 and then they MUST stop performing at 3 minutes.

Performers #1:

  • Scene: You are at a dog park.
  • Line #1: It got better.
  • Line #2: Everybody poops.

Performers #2:

  • Scene:
  • Line #1:
  • Line #2:

And this continues with every performer.

What to judge on?

  • Participants may do just about anything but never anything lude or racial.
  • Don’t worry about writing a critique just be short and say something like “You made me laugh” or “I didn’t really get your humor”
  • Did they entertain you? Most important.
