New To Speechwire? PBCFL FAQs

We are using Speechwire for tournament registration and online balloting this year - which means things will be a little different.

ACCOUNT:
If you need to create an account, go to www.speechwire.com click Your Account (upper right), and follow the process.
If you already have an account, YAY! Sign in!

IF THE PBCFL TOURNEY DOESN'T SHOW UP WHEN I LOG IN, WHAT CAN I DO?
On the left side menu, there are links to both the Tournament Calendar and Open Tournaments. You can find PBCFL All Congress in either link,

YOUR ROSTER:
When you click the UPDATE YOUR ENTRIES icon, you will be greeted by a block of text in yellow highlighter that says:
Please note that due to the video platform(s) this tournament is using, ALL students must have an email address entered for them on your Team roster *AND* they must have clicked the link to activate their SpeechWire account in order for you to register them in this tournament. This is because the platform requires students to access their SpeechWire account to access their live video rounds. Students whose email addresses are removed after they are registered may be dropped from the tournament! Only students with an email address entered will appear as choices for you in registration below.
You need to manually enter new student names and their email addresses into the system. If they are already on your roster from past years, you need to click their name, add the email address, and update their information. They cannot (for privacy reasons) create their own account. It's a process, but it's a one-time process.
YOU CANNOT ENTER STUDENTS INTO AN EVENT IF THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ACTIVE ACCOUNT.

CHAMBERS:
You can designate no more than two students for a particular chamber. This used to be capped at four, but times have changed. This is because, due to the NSDA Campus platform, we can place no  more than 15 individuals (including two judges) into a chamber. We will have many more chambers this year than normal.

NOVICE CHAMBER PRESIDING OFFICERS:
If you have varsity students you would like to designate as POs for novice chambers, you can do so. After you click Tournament Home, there's an icon called Chamber/PO Preferences where you can nominate students to preside in novice houses. You have to register your varsity before you can designate them as Novice Chamber POs.
Varsity POs will be in a novice chamber the entire day; unlike past years, they will not be splitting time between two chambers, or be in a novice house and a varsity senate in separate sessions. They cannot win a trophy; they will get a gavel. (New coaches: this is the only tournament where we designate varsity to preside over novice chambers.)

CHAMBER DESIGNATION:
The Chamber/PO Preferences is where you ALSO designate which students you want in a particular chamber. So, for example, if you want Paul McCartney and John Lennon in Chamber #5, you designate it there. If you want George Harrison in that chamber with them, NOT GONNA HAPPEN - again only two in a chamber. You'll get a warning with a red background telling you there's too many entries in a chamber, and please fix the issue.

JUDGES:
When you enter judges, you will need to include their email addresses so they can access electronic ballots. If they are already in the Speechwire system, it will link them. If not, you need to add their names. (You will be prompted to do so.)
