Dear Coaches,

On behalf of the administration at Antioch Community High School, I am pleased to invite you to the CCFL Varsity Individual Events Qualifier #2, to be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019.  This will be the second tournament in the qualifying process for the 2020 Grand National Tournament in our hometown of Chicago, IL. Please see the details below regarding registration, fees, judges, food, and scheduling.

We will be using SpeechWire to schedule and tab this tournament. There is a four entry limit in each of the six NCFL categories: Dramatic Performance, Duo Interp, Declamation, Extemp Speaking, Original Oratory,  and Oral Interp. Double entries are allowed in all events, so make sure you use the same first and last name for all entries in SpeechWire.

Registration Deadlines:  Your entry should be made online at www.speechwire.com no later than 4 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2019.  At that point, entries will be locked at the number you have submitted.  You may not add entries after 4:00pm on Wednesday.

Please make drops to your entries on SpeechWire at any time up until Friday night December 6, 2019. Please call or text as your team is leaving your school on Saturday. Call even if there are no final changes at 317-250-6830 as you make your adventure to the northern woods ;).  Remember, no judges may be dropped at any time, including the morning of the contest. Tournament check-in will be from 7:30 am until 8:00 am in the commons of Antioch Community HS, followed by a judges and coaches meeting that will begin promptly at 8:00 am on the day of the tournament. Extemp prep will start at 8:15 am. Please have busses drop you off at the Auditorium entrance across from Walgreens.

Please make every effort to bring at least one clean judge; teams of 15 or more should bring at least two clean judges. Fees are due the day of the contest and checks can be made payable to Antioch Community High School.

Awards:  Trophies and medals will be awarded to the top six speakers or duos in each category.  Team trophies will be given to the top three teams.

Special Requirements:  There is a ten-minute maximum time (with a 30 second grace period) in all events except Extemp, which has a seven-minute maximum (and 30 second grace period). Entries in Declamation must be either Freshmen or Sophomores. Declamation selections must have been given originally as a speech by someone other than the speaker. Oral Interp includes one prose and one poetry program, to be delivered in alternate rounds.

Qualifying Process:  Please note the process used to qualify for Nationals. There will be three qualifying tournaments held. Students must compete in at least two contests to be considered for the NCFL Grand Tourney. At the final qualifier, student scores from the best two of the three contests will be counted. The six students/entries with the best overall ranks will be designated as qualified for the NCFL tournament. Ties in ranks will be broken using speaker points from the two tallied contests; further ties will be broken by dropping the highest and lowest points from those tied. National qualifiers will be announced at the end of the awards ceremony at the third tournament at Marist High School on January 18, 2020.

Rules and Regulations:  All rules that govern CCFL IE Tournaments are included in the CCFL By-Laws and will be followed at this tournament.  Also, smoking is not permitted anywhere in our building or on our school grounds.
