It's time for the 2nd Annual Broward County Elementary Debate Championship Tournament!

The tournament will take place on Saturday, May 11th, from 7:30am-1:30pm at Ramblewood Middle School (thanks Paul Paradis and the Raider Debater Students and Parents)!

This tournament is the opportunity for all of our Broward County Debate Teams to show what they've been working on all year! Anyone from your team can compete, but this is their opportunity to show off a year's-worth of hard work, so make sure they're well prepared!

Registration will close on Tuesday, May 7th at 12:00pm noon. Changes (drops or name changes) can be made until 12pm on Friday, May 10th. Any hidden drops will result in your school being fined $25 per drop. You will be able to make your own changes until 12pm on that Friday. Any changes after that, please text Justin Weaver: 954.790.8160 or Jaime Akkusu: 561.706.5375 the school name, student who is dropping, and her/his event.

You need to provide 1 judge for every 5 students for this event. Parents of the students, administrators, and teachers are a great place to start asking for judges!

Transportation will be provided by the Applied Learning Department. Buses will pick-up students at their home schools at approximately 6:30am and take them to Ramblewood Middle School. All attendees will report directly to the Cafeteria upon arrival.  Coaches will need to check-in at the "registration desk" between 7:30am and 8:15am, and then monitor their students. After all schools have checked in, students will be released to report to their rounds. Round 1 is scheduled for 8:30am, Round 2 is scheduled for 10:00am, and Round 3 is scheduled for 12:00pm. Congress will have two sessions from 8:30am-10:30am and 11:00am-1:00pm. Awards will be in the cafeteria around 1:00pm. Lunch (pizza, chips, and a bottle of water) will be included for everyone and there will be a concession stand where additional snacks and drinks can be purchased. Buses will pick up at Ramblewood Middle School at 1:30pm.

In order to maintain the safety and integrity of the tournament, we are REQUIRING that the only parents in attendance at the tournament are official judges or chaperones. Chaperones who are not judges will not be permitted in competition rooms. Parents that are not judges/chaperones, that would like to attend the award ceremony, should plan to arrive at 1:00pm and report to the cafeteria. We appreciate your cooperation with this!

Congress legislation was posted to the Elementary Debate 101 Canvas Course. It can also be found on this website under "Files for Download". Please let Justin Weaver or Jaime Akkusu know ASAP if you need the legislation re-sent to you.

More information may be sent out as the tournament approaches. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
