Registration is now open for the Guardian Angels - Central Catholic Speech Meet Invitational Tournament!

Date: Our meet will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2019. We utilize 3 buildings for our meet, which are all within walking distance of each other: Activities Center (AC), Guardian Angels (GA) and Central Catholic (CC) buildings.

Registration Deadline: Tuesday, January 29that 6:00 P.M. NO additions will be accepted after this deadline.

Format: We will have two divisions: JV and Varsity. The tournament will consist of 2 rounds of preliminary competition (1 judge), with the top 6 advancing to finals (1 judge for JV finals, 2 judges for Varsity finals).

Flights: Flight A – OID, Humorous Prose, Poetry, and Persuasive

Flight B – Duet Acting, Entertainment, Extemporaneous, Informative, and Serious Prose

Awards: Medals will be awarded to the top six competitors in each event for each division. Final team sweepstakes awards will also be given to the top teams in each division.

Entries: Competition will consist of all nine NSAA events in both divisions. Due to limited space, we can accommodate no more than 2 OID entries in each division per team.

Fees: Entry fees are $8.00 per event – individual or group. Fees are due by the day of the tournament. No refunds for dropped events, and no refunds if the number of judges you require drops, as well . Please make checks payable to GACC Booster Club. All coaches and judges please check in at the GA/CC activities center (AC) building on East Walnut Street. There will be master listings of rounds and we can register any drops there. However, we do ask that you text in your drops to us on your way to the tournament so as to avoid confusion and late starts.  Busses may park in the lots North or East of CC and GA buildings. Commons area is also in the AC building in the gym just beyond the check-in area. 

Judges: For every 6 entries, you will need to provide a judge. A fee of $10 will be charged for each uncovered entry. Judges will be given their judging packets in the AC at check-in time. All ballots need to be turned in outside of the tab room on the first floor of Central Catholic (CC building). Judging packets for finals will also be distributed outside of the tab room in the CC building. Final rounds / judge assignments will be posted outside of the tab room in CC, as well as in the commons area of AC.

Please Note:

1.  Extemporaneous draws, preps, and rounds will be held in the cafeteria and classrooms area below / within the GA/CC activities center building. This area provides needed space for the extemp participants and is easily accessed via the gym where the teams congregate all day. This will enable busses to drop off teams and all materials in one spot - at the GA-CC activities center, where coaches and judges check in and the kids congregate all day.

2.  With the ability to utilize computers for extemp this year, please bring your own fully charged laptops if you choose to use them.  As per NSAA rules, you will not be allowed to plug them in to an external power source or access the internet. 

3. Students can be triple-entered. However, the entries cannot all be in the same flight. Hopefully this will stop us from slowing down the tournament and holding up rooms and judges from their next assignments.

4..  If you have any changes to your entries the morning of the tournament, we require that PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL, YOU TEXT THESE CHANGES TO THE FOLLOWING PHONE NUMBER:  308-325-3486.  This will allow us to process changes in advance so that judges and rounds are ready at start time.  This will eliminate stress and confusion for participants, judges, and coaches!  Thank you!! 

Tab Room: Tab Room is located on first floor in the Central Catholic High school building. Coaches may view ballots throughout the tournament. You will be able to view ballots inside the Tab Room.

Hospitality Room: A hospitality room will be available for coaches, judges, and bus drivers in the Central Catholic Activities Center (AC). Meal tickets for judges, coaches, and bus drivers will be provided as well.

There will be a lunch stand available for all with hot soups and sandwiches, as well as a concession stand with food and beverages that will be open all day.

10:45 AM      Round 2, Flight B Extemp Draw.

11:45 PM      Round 2, Flight B -Duet Acting, Entertainment, Extemporaneous, Informative, and Serious Prose

1:00 PM      Finals, Flight A - OID, Humorous Prose, Poetry, and Persuasive
