Badger High School Take the Polar Plunge into 4n6! January 26, 2019
Coaches Information Sheet Registration: We’ll be using SpeechWire for registration. This is the ONLY way to register for our Festival. To register your team, visit: www.speechwire.com. A fee of $9.00 for each individual entry and $12 for group entry (Group Interp, Play Acting). Entry fees are per entry, not per student. Fees will be based on your confirmed entries. This is a Single Entry Festival only, please.
Deadline: You must register via SpeechWire by Monday, Jan. 21st at 12:00pm. After that point, email drops to mark.zastrow@badger.k12.wi.us at your earliest possible convenience. Entries dropped after that time will still be charged. Day of tournament drops are strongly discouraged.
It will be a 3 round day traditional Festival today. We will be using the new updated WHSFA critique sheets for scoring, but also asking judges to provide a rank in each round for all students!
Awards will be based on the POINT total from all 3 rounds (not rank): Medal: 70-75 points Blue Ribbon: 60-69 points Red Ribbon: 50-59 points White Ribbon: Below 50 points
Judges: Schools must provide one judge for every five (or fraction thereof) entries. A limited number of hired judges will be available at a cost of $150 each. Judges do not need to be WHSFA certified to judge at this particular meet.
Food: Snacks will be available for purchase in the cafeteria.
Awards will be handed out at a designated table outside of Room 612. JUDGES Information Sheet
Schedule: 7:45 - 8:30 Registration in Commons 8:30 Extemp./Radio Draw in the Library 8:45 Coaches/Judges meeting - Judges’ rm. 712 9:00 - 10:10 Round I 10:10 - 11:20 Round II 11:20 - 12:30 Round III 12:00 - 1:00 Awards
DO NOT give oral critique unless time permits. RETURN critique sheets TO THE STUDENTS.
DO fill out the critique sheets. Please validate your scores with specific written comments. Your written comments help both students and coaches understand the scores given. As this may be the first meet in the Forensic season, many students depend on your comments to help them improve.
DO sign your forms. Show your interest in the students by being attentive. Try to write something that they did well, and something that they should work on. Base your judgments on WHSFA rules. A copy of them is included with each evaluation form.
DO TOTAL THE NUMBER OF POINTS ON THE CRITIQUE SHEET CORRECTLY! Awards are based on the accumulated points for the day, and it is important that they are correctly added - one point either way can change the awards level.
For the sake of the students accumulating NFL points, please RANK each student in the section, from best speaker in the section as #1, second best speaker #2, etc. You may have two or more scores of 25, but only one of them should be ranked #1 in any one section. Place the rank numbers on the ranking sheet on the bottom right hand corner. Don’t go any lower than a rank of #5.
For the Draw categories of Radio and Extemp., rank these students as well.
THERE WILL BE A BRIEF COACHES AND JUDGES MEETING IN THE JUDGES’ LOUNGE (ROOM 712) AT 8:45 AM.
